If you are looking forward to TLA: Legend of Korra here are some other show suggestions

If you can’t wait for Korra

Then Here are some action shows with awesome female heroines who kick butt and are not sexualized to death.

Claymore

Sort of puts the male-female roles on it’s head. All Claymores are females who are partly a monster partly human, they fight off many massive demonic creatures.

Gargoyles

You have Elisa Maza, half black half hispanic cop from new york, Demona the villainess gargoyle who takes the form of a red headed woman by day, and other female characters spring up over time

And of course Avatar: The Last Airbender has Toph, Katara, Azula etc.

Please reblog if you have other suggestions post them below!

I have a hard time finding good action shows with strong female characters who aren’t you know… in skimpy outfits in suggestive poses… whatevs.

THE RAPE OF THE SAMBURU WOMEN

For more than fifty years, England has maintained military training facilities in the Samburu region of its former colony, Kenya.

During this period, women in the area have faced an epidemic of rape. Women from the Samburu, Massai, Rendile and Turkana indigenous communities have filed more than 600 official rape claims against British soldiers.

Yet, despite documentation of their claims, a three-year internal investigation by the Royal Military Police (RMP) cleared all soldiers of wrongdoing.Meanwhile, the victims have been shamed and outcast in their communities, many to the point of exile.

In the mid-1990s, Beatrice Chili responded to this situation by establishing the village of Senchen, a self-sufficient community run entirely by women. There, women build homes, weave textiles, gather and grow food, and raise children. This short film visits the brave women of Senchen, who speak candidly about their suffering and talk passionately about their demands for justice.

Watch the film to hear their stories and to find out how you can offer your support.

Women, do you ever ask the man out?

Are you the type to ask a guy out, even if you’re not sure if he likes you back? Are you the type that is too shy or what have you to ever ask a guy out first?

I’m curious because I’ve been trying to fix up my co-worker who is a guy, with one of the two other co-workers he has a crush on. I get them all in the same room, get them talking, I will tease him and try to get them in on it [friendly jesting mind u], I even told them about how he wouldn’t ask anyone out unless they asked him out. I want to drop hints but I don’t want them to know he likes them or he may kill me. He has a hard time telling if a girl likes him or not.

If you weren’t sure the guy had feelings for you, and you were co-workers, would you still ask him out?

Do you have any other advice for me as I play match maker? lol

Reguarding Korra’s masculinity:
I thought it was a cool idea. I’m not buff, or lesbian, but I do have a strong masculine side for a straight woman. I’ve always been accused of being a lesbian because I was raised to believe vein things like make-up and wearing nice clothes were shallow and we shouldn’t judge people that way. I was in to boy toys, I liked to hang out with boys. So for me it’s rare to find a female character in pretty much anything that I not only give two craps about, but relate to. Thanks writers of Avatar for making strong female characters who are so interesting! :)
EDIT: PS) I was blown away by Toph. Who knew a character like that would ever get on TV? That was the epitomy of equality for me.
